On August 10-11, 2024, the "2024 Frontier Forum on Intelligent Human-Machine-Environment Engineering" (hereinafter referred to as the "2024 Forum") was organized by the Human-Machine Engineering Committee of the Chinese Society of Ergonomics, the Engineering Psychology Committee of the Chinese Psychological Association, the Engineering Construction Management Committee of the Chinese Society of Technological Economics and hosted by the China Agricultural University and co-sponsored by the Beijing Hengzhi Science and Technology Co. Ltd, Wuhan Human Factors Engineering Technology Research Institute, Shenzhen Human Factors Engineering Technology Research Institute, Guangdong Human Factors Technology Research Institute, Human-Machine Environment Measurement and Evaluation Research Branch of the Pacific Society, and the Key Laboratory of Human-Machine-Environment of China National Weapons Industry Corporation (hereinafter referred to as the "Forum")" was successfully held in Beijing.
With the theme of "Intelligent Human-Machine-Environmental Engineering" in the context of discipline integration, this forum integrates human factors engineering, psychology, various types of environmental testing and other disciplines, aiming to break down the disciplinary barriers and create a communication platform for the academic and industrial counterparts related to "intelligent human-machine-environmental engineering" to promote the development of "intelligent human-machine-environmental engineering" in the new era. More than 200 experts in related fields from more than 100 universities and research institutes participated in the forum offline, and 6,698 people watched the live broadcast of the conference online. On the morning of August 11, the opening ceremony of the forum was hosted by Professor Song Zhenghe, Dean of the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University. The speeches believe that the development of traditional disciplines is under great pressure, and intelligent human-machine-environment engineering is also facing major challenges, and we not only need to deepen the research in our own field, but at the same time, we need to seize the technological innovation, promote the multi-disciplinary, broaden the horizons, and strengthen the cooperation with the relevant domestic and foreign academic organizations and industries, and promote the high-quality development of the industry through the integration of multi-disciplines and the application of cutting-edge technologies, in order to Promote the development of man-machine-environment engineering to make our due contribution.

Keynote report

After the speeches of the opening ceremony, the keynote speeches began. Firstly, hosted by Prof. Song Zhenghe from China Agricultural University, Prof. Li Xiaosang, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience and Learning of South China University of Technology/Beijing Normal University, and selected candidate of the National Talent Program, gave the first keynote speech of the forum with the title of "Overview of Cognitive Neuro-ergonomics, Research Platforms, and Achievements". As one of the founders of the first Cognitive Neurological Ergonomics Research Center in China, Prof. Li proposed the future development direction of Cognitive Neurological Ergonomics from the development of Cognitive Neurological Ergonomics and the current problems, to the practical application, combining the theory with the reality, as well as the ideas and development paths of scientific research and practical exploration.

After Prof. Li's report, Prof. Tian Feng, Software Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and selected candidate of the National Talent Program, shared some explorations on new natural human-computer interaction technology online, and the report proposed the development of human-computer interaction, collaborative application of AI, and the integration and cooperation of disciplines in solving the real problems ultimately provided a very good direction for development.

After a short break, the conference was continued to be hosted by researcher Zhao Chaoyi, chief researcher of China National Institute of Standardization (CNIS) and deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Human Factors and Ergonomics of the State Administration of Market Supervision (SAMS), with Prof. Wu Qi, Shanghai Jiaotong University and recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, National Talent Program inductee, and Prof. Dong Weihua, Beijing Normal University and National Talent Program inductee, sharing their research backgrounds, current research status, and problems and future development directions, respectively, on the brain imaging-based brain function activation state research and how navigation tools affect human spatial learning ability, the two professors shared their own research background, current research status, as well as the problems they face and future development direction, which is another solid step to break the barriers between disciplines.

Then, hosted by Researcher Xie Fang, Chief Technologist of Human Factors Engineering Discipline, North China Vehicle Research Institute, Prof. Jiang Bin, Livable City Laboratory of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), selected by National Talent Program, and Prof. Huang Qian, Wuhan Physical Education and Sports Institute, selected by National Talent Program, made a conference report. Prof. Jiang extended the aesthetics of city construction to the direction of human health and emotion, and proposed that beauty is measurable and concrete; Prof. Huang introduced the research development and application of brain science and neuroscience in sports from the world's most important sports event - the Paris Olympics, which made us proud of the remarkable achievements of the Olympic athletes, and made us proud of the people who have worked tirelessly on their sports careers. Prof. Yang Bin, Dean of the School of Energy and Safety Engineering of Tianjin Urban Construction University and selected by the National Talent Program, Prof. Zhang Dan, Deputy Director of the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science of Tsinghua University and selected by the National Talent Program, and Prof. Su Sheng, Dean of the School of Design of Xi'an Polytechnic University, and other scholars made reports on the conference, which covered the topics of Confined Space Contextual Intelligence, Automotive Intelligent Capsule and User Experience, Computer Vision and Architecture, Emotional Framing and Computing, and Color Sensing and Intelligent Design Methods. The research of cabin design methodology and other cutting-edge researches have aroused in-depth exchanges and positive responses from the delegates. From different perspectives, the experts will conduct an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary collision of academic ideas in the field of intelligent human-machine-environment engineering, which will greatly promote the development of the three major disciplines.

In addition to the keynote report, this forum simultaneously opened three sub-forums with a total of 16 academic reports, centered on the theme of "intelligent human-machine engineering and human-computer interaction", "engineering psychology and human-computer collaboration", "intelligent interaction and experience design" three major directions, respectively. The three major directions of "Intelligent Human-Machine Engineering and Human-Computer Interaction", "Engineering Psychology and Human-Machine Collaboration", and "Intelligent Interaction and Experience Design", respectively, were chaired by Prof. Jin Xiaoping of the College of Engineering, China Agricultural University, Prof. Zhang Liang, Young Distinguished Researcher of the Research Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Prof. Hou Wenjun of the School of Digital Media and Design Art, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications.
