Wang Baoguo is a native of Linqing City, Shandong Province. He was admitted to the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (now renamed as University of Chinese Academy of Sciences) as the first postgraduate student in 1978, and obtained his master's degree and doctoral degree during his 16 years of work and study at CAS, where he successively studied under Academician Wu Zhonghua, Chen Naixing and Mr. Bian Yingui, and engaged in the research of in-flow aerodynamic thermodynamics in engineering thermophysics and out-flow aerodynamic thermodynamics in spacecrafts. During the 16 years of working and studying in CAS, he obtained his master's degree and doctoral degree, and conducted postdoctoral research for 3.5 years. He was awarded the first National Excellent Postdoctoral Award by the Ministry of Labor and Personnel in 1993, and the Scientific and Technological Progress Award for Major Achievements of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1987 and 1989, and was one of the main awardees.

During his ten years as a professor and doctoral supervisor at Tsinghua University, Wang Baoguo was twice awarded the Tsinghua University Teaching Excellence Award.In 2002, Prof. Wang was invited to teach at the Beijing Institute of Technology, where he worked for ten years in the School of Mechanics and Vehicles, the School of Mechatronics and the School of Astronautics. He has served as the academic leader and chief professor of three secondary disciplines (i.e., fluid mechanics, engineering thermophysics, and human-machine and environmental engineering) at the university. Prof. Wang has published 18 academic monographs and nationally planned textbooks in these three fields. These books are published by "Science Press", "Mechanical Industry Press", "National Defense Industry Press", "Sinopec Press "These books are published by seven famous publishers, including Science Press, Mechanical Industry Press, National Defense Industry Press, Sinopec Press, Tsinghua University Press, Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics Press, and Beijing University of Science and Technology Press. Among them, "Hypersonic Aerodynamic Thermodynamics", "Radiative Transport and Magnetohydrodynamics in Hypersonic Flight", "Multi-Objective and Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Methods for Aerospace Turbofan Engines", "Calculation Methods for Impeller Mechanical Transonic and Subsonic Flow Fields", "High Precision Algorithms and Wavelet Multi-Resolution Analyses", "Calculation of Dilute Gas Dynamics", "Nonconstant Gas Dynamics", and "Methodology for Human-Machine Systems" are eight books. He is the author of eight books, including Gas Dynamics, Fundamentals of Aerodynamics, Heat Transfer, Safety Ergonomics, and Principles of Man-Machine Environment Safety Engineering. He has also published more than 200 academic papers, of which more than 80 are in English.

In October 2023, the National Defense Industry Publishing House started to officially publish and distribute "Intelligent Series of Man-Machine Systems", which contains three books: ① "Intelligent Optimization Methods for Man-Machine Systems: Performance Prediction and Decision Analysis", ② "Safety Ergonomics: Man-Machine Models and Intelligent", and ③ "Application of Functional Materials in Safety Ergonomics", and the first authors of the three intelligent books are all Prof. Baoguo Wang.

Prof. Wang Baoguo was awarded the Gold Star Award in Cambridge, UK in 1998, the New Century Global 500 Award by Barons Who's Who, USA in 2000, and the honorary title of "Beijing Famous Teachers" in 2007. "In October 2011, Prof. Wang Baoguo was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award (only 2 winners in China) at the "Grand Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Birth of the Great Scientist Qian Xuesen and the 30th Anniversary of the Establishment of Human-Machine-Environment System Engineering". "30th Anniversary of the Founding of AeroDynamics Newspaper and the Sixth Editorial Board Meeting", Wang Baoguo was awarded the first place of Outstanding Contribution Award of AeroDynamics Newspaper's Editorial Board.In 2019, at the "National Membership Congress of the Chinese Society of Ergonomics and 30th Anniversary of the Founding of the Society In 2019, Prof. Wang Baoguo was awarded the "Lifetime Achievement Award of Chinese Society of Ergonomics" at the "National General Meeting of Chinese Society of Ergonomics and 30th Anniversary Commemorative Meeting of the Society".
