[Frontiers in Science and Technology] NIR Data Processing and Brain Network Computing Symposium was successfully held!

A conference on "NIR data processing and brain network computing" was successfully held in Beijing Normal University from June 30 to July 2, 2023. The conference aims to promote the methods and applications of functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and emerging photobiomodulation technologies, and further promote the development of optical imaging and photonic modulation technologies in basic brain science research and clinical application translation.

The fNIRS technique is of increasing interest to a wide range of researchers as a non-invasive, real-time technical means of monitoring functional brain activity. This technique utilizes the characteristics of near-infrared light to achieve monitoring of functional brain activity by measuring changes in the concentration of hemoglobin and oxyhemoglobin in brain tissue. Compared with traditional functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), fNIRS has the advantages of low cost, compact and portable equipment, and adaptability to subjects of different ages, making it ideal for studying brain science in special populations such as children and the elderly.

Many well-known experts in NIR spectroscopic imaging in China were invited to this conference, and they discussed intensely about the key issues and challenges faced by these cutting-edge technologies from their own research perspectives. The participating experts actively shared their research results and experiences, and discussed the future directions in the field of NIR data processing and brain network computing.
